Sadegh Hedayat

Sadegh Hedayat was an Iranian writer, translator and intellectual. Best known for his novel The Blind Owl, he was one of the earliest Iranian writers to adopt literary modernism in their career. Sadegh Hedayat was one of the pioneers of modern Iranian fiction as well as a prominent intellectual. Although Hedayat is famous for his fiction, he has also translated works from ancient Persian texts such as “Zand-i Wahman yasn”, as well as authors such as Anton Chekhov, Franz Kafka, Arthur Schnitzler, and Jean-Paul Sartre. He is also the first Iranian to translate texts from Middle Persian (Pahlavi) into modern Persian.
