Zahhak

This Book “Zahhak; The Legend Of The Serpent King” is written by Gholam-Hossein Sa’edi. Zahhak the snake shoulder, is an evil figure in Persian mythology, evident in ancient Persian folklore, the name by which also appears in the texts of the Avesta. The Iranians, annoyed by the tyranny of King Jamshid, go inside of Zahak and elect him as king. The devil, Zahak’s assistant, kisses the Zahak’s shoulder and two snakes come out of the kisses. After this incident, the devil prescribes a prescription that he must feed the brains of two young men to snakes every day so that he does not get bitten. Gholam-Hossein Sa’edi has written a play based on the famous story of Zahak in five scenes and forty-two scenes.
