Nowhere Play by Mohammad Rezaei Rad

Description

Nowhere by Mohammad Rezaei Rad is a powerful collection of three plays: Nowhere, The Jackal’s Wedding, and Above the Watchtowers. The central and most prominent play, Nowhere, follows a nearly blind old father and his war-traumatized young daughter, who have lost everything and wander in search of survival and escape. Across nine scenes and nine symbolic characters—including a smuggler, foreign soldier, terrorist, Red Cross nurse, migrant, and customs officer—the play presents a haunting portrait of displacement, borders, and human captivity. Drawing on decades of reflection, Rezaei Rad exposes war as the most devastating and tragic farce of history, stripping it of any false sanctity. These plays confront political violence, exile, and the illusion of borders, while expressing a shared, impossible longing for a land without walls, limits, or divisions.
