Mezrab for Santur
Mezrab or plectrum is a small tool used to pluck or strum a stringed instrument such as Tar. For hand-held instruments such as guitars and mandolins, the plectrum is often called a pick and is a separate tool held in the player’s hand. In harpsichords, the plectra are attached to the jack mechanism. In Santur Instrument, Mezrab is such as Hammer and made of Wood. The Santur is a hammered dulcimer of Iranian or Mesopotamian origins. It is a trapezoid box zither with a walnut body and 92 steel (or bronze) strings. The strings, tuned to the same pitch in groups of four, are struck with two wooden mallets called “midhrab”.
