"Hikmat al-Ishraq" by Shihab al-Din Suhrawardi, also known as "The Philosophy of Illumination," is a seminal work in Islamic philosophy that combines mystical insights with philosophical reasoning. Suhrawardi, the founder of the Illuminationist (Ishraqi) school of thought, developed a unique system of philosophy that emphasizes light as the fundamental reality of existence. In "Hikmat al-Ishraq", Suhrawardi delves into the metaphysical nature of light and darkness, presenting light as the ultimate source of being, knowledge, and spiritual awareness. The work reflects a synthesis of Persian mysticism, Neoplatonism, and Islamic philosophical traditions, offering a profound exploration of the cosmos, the human soul, and the relationship between knowledge and illumination.
