Dora Bruder Novel by Patrick Modiano (Farsi)

Description

Dora Bruder by Patrick Modiano is a haunting reconstruction of the life of a young Jewish girl who disappeared in Paris during the German occupation of France. Inspired by a missing-person notice published in a 1941 newspaper, Modiano begins a years-long investigation to uncover the fragments of Dora's life and the circumstances that led to her disappearance. Drawing on archival records, historical documents, personal memories, photographs, and traces of places in occupied Paris, Modiano gradually reconstructs Dora's story and the fate of her family during the Holocaust. At the same time, his investigation becomes deeply personal, leading him to reflect on his own childhood, his father's history, memory, and the experience of loss. Blending biography, memoir, historical investigation, and literary reflection, Dora Bruder is a powerful meditation on memory, identity, disappearance, and the forgotten lives of those affected by the Holocaust. It is an important work for readers interested in modern European history, Holocaust literature, biography, and the relationship between personal memory and historical memory.
