Description

The philosophy of Omar Khayyam, as revealed in his quatrains, served as a crucial key for individuals like Sadegh Hedayat, who were constantly grappling with the concept of nihilism. Hedayat was deeply enamored with Khayyam and conducted extensive research on him, which culminated in the publication of the books "Songs of Khayyam" and "The Quatrains of Omar Khayyam." For many years, these works were not allowed to be published, but eventually, they were compiled by Hedayat's nephew, who also added a preface. This collection includes all of Hedayat's writings about Khayyam, as well as the two books "The Quatrains of Omar Khayyam" and "Songs of Khayyam." The first book contains a biography of Khayyam along with 201 quatrains that Hedayat confidently attributed to Khayyam himself. The second book features 106 quatrains that Hedayat believed were written by Khayyam.
