Aida, a seventeen-year-old girl, faces complex and unspoken challenges in her life. Her parents separated years ago, and she now lives with her father. Her mother, a pleasant woman, and her politically active father, who holds his own ideas, are no longer together due to government persecution, forcing Aida to leave her father and live with her mother. Aida's mother is on the verge of marrying a man named Sharif. In the story, Aida discovers her mother's unusual behavior and inappropriate connections with her friend Susan. These illicit relationships lead to complicated events and unexpected consequences in Aida's life. She also falls in love with Susan's husband, Shadmehr, but this love comes with its own set of problems. Sharif, too, has his eyes on Aida, adding tension and complexity to the narrative.
