In "But I Am an Alligator" by Lauren Child, Lola receives a special alligator costume from her Granny and Grandpa. Enamored with her new outfit, Lola declares that she will never take it off. However, as excitement builds around an upcoming school presentation where students are to share things they like, Charlie, Lola's older brother, becomes concerned. Worried that Lola's determination to wear the alligator costume at the presentation might lead to her making a humorous spectacle of herself, Charlie grapples with how to navigate his little sister's unwavering decision. The story unfolds with humor, warmth, and a blend of sibling dynamics as Charlie attempts to guide Lola through the challenges of school presentations and self-expression.
