Ajamlar
The Book “Ajamlar” is written by Arash Mohafez. This book is a supplement to Ajmlar’s album, which was previously published by the Mahoor Cultural and Artistic Institute. The collection of these comparative transcripts is accompanied by explanations of the musical connection between ancient Iran and Ottoman Iran, the Ajami works, technical issues including the potential step, the leading form, the structure of the rhythms, and the contracts of the present rewriting. The present book contains more than thirty compositions attributed to Iranian musicians in the Ottoman treatises of Ali Ofki and Dimitri Kantmir, which have been generally rewritten to contemporary Iranian instruments in the European notation. In this section, not only are both Ofaki and Cantmir versions of each piece, if any, provided, but each version of each piece, if necessary, is confronted and corrected accordingly. In the appendix of the book, about forty other pieces of the same treatises, which are somehow related to this Ajami style, have been rewritten as an example for the contemporary Iranian audience.
