This album features 124 masterpieces from the book “124 Selected Pieces of Iranian National Music”, performed by the eminent musician Dariush Safvat. Recorded over nearly a decade during his teaching sessions, these pieces—preserved from old cassette tapes—represent authentic renditions of Persian classical forms such as Pishdaramad, Reng, Chaharmezrab, and Tasnif. Some pieces missing from Safvat’s recordings were later performed by his student Amin Pasha Samadian. Dariush Safvat, a master of the Santur and Setar, was a disciple of Habib Samaei, Abolhasan Saba, and Haj Agha Mohammad Irani Mojarrad. As a founder of the Center for the Preservation and Propagation of Iranian Music (1968), he played a vital role in sustaining Iran’s musical heritage. Published by the Mahoor Cultural and Art Institute, this 6-CD collection offers a timeless journey through the rich traditions of Persian classical music.
