The author was unable to obtain firsthand accounts or autographs of Naser al-Din Shah for the first three journeys, so the reports and memoirs of others are relied upon. However, the subsequent journeys include not only the accounts and memories of others but also personal recollections of Naser al-Din Shah himself. It is noteworthy that the memoirs of the fourth journey were also penned by Naser al-Din Shah himself.
