Description
In Thirst by Varsha Bajaj, Minni lives in one of the poorest neighborhoods of Mumbai, where water flows only for a few hours each day and long lines form at the communal taps. Recently, even this limited access is threatened by worsening shortages—and by thieves stealing what little water the community has. One night, Minni accidentally witnesses one of these crimes. When she begins working in a luxurious high-rise building, she is stunned to see water running freely from every faucet and even a sparkling rooftop pool. Even more alarming, she recognizes one of the water-mafia bosses living there. Now Minni must decide whether to speak out and risk her job—and possibly her life. How did something as basic as water become so unequal and dangerous?
