"The Woman Who Lost Her Man" is a short story by Sadegh Hedayat. The main character of the story, Zarrin Kolah, faces tragedy from birth as her father dies, which fosters a deep-seated resentment towards her mother. Her mother curses and blames her continuously. This young woman, deprived of love and affection, becomes infatuated with a man from Mazandaran, known as Golbobo, upon hearing a song about him. She dreams of a life with him. Zarrin Kolah confides in a neighbor, her confidante, who helps to bring her and Golbobo together. Despite her mother's strong opposition, intermediaries work to unite the couple, and Zarrin Kolah marries Golbobo. However, her life does not unfold as beautifully as her dreams. The prince of her dreams turns out to be a cruel figure, holding the whip of injustice in his hands.
