The book "Shab-e Tahereh" tells the story of Tahereh Karim Qasemi, who unexpectedly encounters one of her friends from thirty years ago. Suddenly, all the painful memories of her past come flooding back to her. "Marziyeh," one of Tahereh's friends from her student activist days in the 1960s, promises her that they will meet again. She recalls being 17 years old when her father was on the verge of death due to cancer. To bring joy to her father and to alleviate concerns about her future, her uncle and his family arrange for her to marry her cousin Ahmad. The village of "Goran" becomes the backdrop for the ups and downs of Tahereh's life. After the marriage, Ahmad leaves for good. As a supporter of a political organization from the 1960s, Ahmad leaves behind only a memory for Tahereh. Tahereh loves Ahmad, and a few days after their marriage, her father passes away.
