"Piyadeh" by Belgheis Soleimani tells the harrowing tale of a vulnerable and isolated woman navigating life in the sprawling metropolis of Tehran. The narrative centers around a couple from Kerman, named Karamat and Anis, who move to Tehran in the tumultuous years following the Iranian Revolution and during the Iran-Iraq War. Anis, the protagonist, is pregnant and has been married to Karamat for a year and a half when they relocate. Karamat begins his university studies, but his behavior changes drastically, becoming suspicious and controlling, restricting Anis's freedom. The situation becomes even more complicated with the prolonged stay of a guest named Houshang. Anis finds herself increasingly distressed by Karamat's erratic behavior and the unsettling presence of Houshang.
