Description
Lorestani Tanbur (Laki) Music Album by Emamgholi Emami, Published by Mahoor Institute of Culture & Art is a rare ethnographic and musical document that preserves the artistry of one of Lorestan’s greatest tanbur masters. The recordings were extracted from an interview conducted by Hamid Izadpanah, during which Emamgholi Emami—at the age of 85—introduced himself, performed fifteen traditional pieces, and explained their cultural background. Remarkably, he plays on a two‑string tanbur of his own making, locally called Tamireh, which adds a unique timbre to the performances. The album captures not only the sound of the Laki tanbur tradition but also the living memory of a musician whose life embodies the heritage of his people. Listeners have described owning this album as an extraordinary experience, a direct encounter with the legacy of a legendary figure in Iranian folk music.
