Ruhollah Khaleqi

Ruhollah Khaleqi was a musician, composer, violinist and music teacher from Iran. He played a significant role in preserving and reviving the status of this music with his works and activities in the era when attention to Iranian traditional music had decreased. Khaleqi founded the first independent music magazine of Iran called chang and published many specialized articles in different press. His other activities were leading the Golha orchestra, managing the number one and two radio orchestras, and being a member of the radio music council. Khaleqi wrote several important books on Iranian and Western music. The history of Iranian music in three volumes are among his most important printed works.
