Attar of Nishapur

Attar of Nishapur known as Abū Ḥamīd bin Abū Bakr Ibrāhīm, or by his pen-names Farīd ud-Dīn, was a Persian poet, theoretician of Sufism, and hagiographer from Nishapur who had an immense and lasting influence on Persian poetry and Sufism. The Mausoleum of Attar of Nishapur (or Attar Neyshaburi) is located in Nishapur in northeastern Iran. It’s located near the Mausoleum of Omar Khayyám. Attar of Nishapur learned pharmacy and pharmacology from his father, and in mysticism he was not a disciple of a particular line of Sufi shaykhs. He worked as a perfumer and treated patients. Attar of Nishapur composed many poems and he was one of the famous poets and mystics of the sixth and seventh centuries AH.
