The author of “The Divan of Mohammad Hossein Shahriar” is Mohammad Hossein Shahriar. Mohammad-Hossein Shahriar, mainly known by his pen name, Shahriar, was a notable Iranian Azerbaijani Poet who wrote in both Azerbaijani and Persian. He published his first book of poetry in 1310 with an introduction by Malek osh-Sho’arā, Saeed Nafisi and Pejman Bakhtiari. The poem Heydar Babaei Salam considered as one of the most important works of Shahriar. As a young man in Tehran, Shahriar was friends with the greats of art and literature. Early in his medical studies in Tehran, Shahriar fell in love with Soraya, the daughter of Abdullah Amir Tahmasebi, and they were engaged for several years. But in the end, the girl marries Cheraghali Salar Heshmat, known as Amir Akram.
