Radif of Iranian Classical Music
The Book “Radif of Seven Dastgahs of Iranian Classical Music” is written by Musa Marufi. Musa Maroufi (born 1268 in Tehran – died 7 September 1344 in Tehran) was a musician, string player, teacher and collector of Iranian music. He was the father of the famous Javad. Musa Maroufi was born in 1268 in a religious and music-loving family in Tehran. He was the son of Mohammad Ismail Khan Amin al-Molk and nephew of Mirza Ali Asghar Atabak, Prime Minister Nasser al-Din Shah and Muzaffar al-Din Shah. In addition to his traditional education, he began playing the Setar with Yusuf Sooratgar, a photographer from the Nasserite court. Then he used the presence of the masters of that time, including Darvish Khan. With a lot of perseverance and practice, he reached a level of music that won the “Golden Ax” award from Darvish Khan.
