Persepolis
Persepolis was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire. It is situated 60 kilometres northeast of the city of Shiraz in Fars Province, Iran. The earliest remains of Persepolis date back to 515 BC. It exemplifies the Achaemenid style of architecture.
Lydia an ancient region of western Asia Minor, south of Mysia and north of Caria. It became a powerful kingdom in the 7th century bc but in 546 Croesus, its last king, was defeated by Cyrus and it was absorbed into the Persian empire.
