Forough Farrokhzad

Forough Farrokhzad is a famous contemporary Iranian poet, was born in Tehran in 1935. Her father was military officer Colonel Mohammad Bagher Farrokhzad and her mother was Touran Vaziri-Tabar. She attended school until the ninth grade, then was taught painting and sewing at a girls’ school for the manual arts. She published five books of poetry, which are worthy examples of contemporary Persian poetry. Forough started her works with the collections of captives, walls and rebellion in the form of Nimai poetry. Then, meeting and collaborating with Ebrahim Golestan, a well-known Iranian writer and filmmaker, caused an intellectual and literary transformation in Forough. Forough Farrokhzad died at the age of 32 due to a car overturning.
